Flores de Mayo and Santa Cruzan

The highlight of my summer during my childhood days is the Flores de Mayo. It is a festival wherein we offered flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the altar in the church. It’s been an exciting experienced since every morning we were busy picking up flowers especially the santan flower and sew its tiny flowers to make a garland. The flowers and efforts of making a garland is our simple offering to honor Mama Mary. Sometimes we dressed like an angel to escort the one who carry the letters of the word “AVE MARIA.” It was also during the Flores de Mayo where I learned to recite the rosary.

But the best part of the Flores de Mayo is procession of the Santa Cruzan - the final part of the festival in honour of Reyna Helena. It is more a parade than a religious procession. Instead of icons or images, beautiful young women with appropriate theatrical costumes, portray biblical and historical characters. Almost all sagalas, the persons in the parade, symbolize queens from the past! Each sagala is dressed beautiful and is looking as the 'real' Reyna (Queen)!

In our barrio, our nanay or ate who was with us during the celebration of Flores de Mayo will choose female kids to represent the queens of the past and others are angels that will carry the arc of the reynas (queens). I’m glad I’m one of the chosen to represent one of the historical characters or one of the queens.

I can still remember that during that time, I felt so beautiful with my long white lace gown and proud of my crown filled with fake crystals on my head. And during the last part of the program my sister gave me a long stemmed red rose’s bouquet, but roses without smell because it’s plastic (LOL) and I'm pleased of it. However, I really felt like a beautiful queen escorted by two angels.

When I scanned my photo album and found my picture during the Santa Cruzan, only did I realize how funny I looked like  (LOL).  Especially looking at the shoes I'm wearing at that time - black and cracking shoes. Maybe my parents or my five sisters forgot to shine the shoes of their little sister. Or perhaps they are too overwhelmed  witth my  make-up,  crystal filled crown, and my long laced white gown. Anyway, like my gown, my crown and my make-up  - it's a beautiful and memorable expeienced of mine!!!!! (LOL)

My Scents

I haven’t purchase a perfume in my entire life because it’s quiet expensive. I only owned once, a TOMMY HILFIGER Girl Perfume, given to me by my uncle (a seaman). It was introduced in 2002 and is known for its fresh marine-like aroma. I personally love its zesty, real carefree and youthful fragrance.

But usually I wear baby cologne. I don’t have actually my own favorite cologne. But the longest cologne I use is the Baby Bench Cologne Popsicle. I think I use it more than five years. It’s my official baby cologne when I was in college. My classmates can easily recognize me with my smell (LOL). I love the refreshing smell of this cologne and its long lasting fragrance.

Currently, I am searching for a new cologne or perfume perhaps. Something that is refreshing, invigorating, and sweet and of course something that will give me a long lasting fragrance. Perhaps I'll try this new perfume store and start scent- searching.

And oohh!!! Father's Day is fast approaching, I think it's very timing to visit this new perfume store, and look for a perfume for my father. By the way he is a perfume/cologne addict (LOL).

Poster

I miss this blogging thing, as you can see I haven’t posted lately. I’m quiet busy because I was tasked to lay-out a poster which I honestly do not know how to do. But Since I love to create, explore and do new things, then I accepted the task.

My first attempt using Adobe Photoshop!

It was rejected because the concept does not match on what IP Curriculum means.

~OOO~

Still needs improvement especially in the lower part.

~OOO~

Finally!!!! My bosses were satisfied!!

I’ve been doing this for five days! It's quiet tedious and my back aches. But my efforts are still worth it.

Thanks to the assistance of my colleagues.

Seven (7)

I don’t believe in lucky number. But I want to share with you the significance of number SEVEN (7) in my life.

1. There is number seven on my birthday; I was born on April 17, 1982.
2. According to my mother, the number of my bed when I was born was seven.
3. I am the 7th child of my father. But not of my mother. My father is a widower and has five
children by his first marriage.
4. 7th grandchild of my grandparents from my mother side.
5. My birthstone is diamond, and there are seven letters in the word diamond.
6. Consider 1982 (the year of my birth) as separate numbers: 1, 9, 8, and 2. Subtract 2 from 9 and you’ll get number 7. Same with eight minus one!! And
7. I have seven dark and bulging moles on my face.

Amazing isn’t it?

I Am Mole-ionaire

I have 8 visible moles on my face, that made me a mole-ionaire. Seven of them were dark and bulging. Sometimes I get annoyed with them especially when my nieces and nephews tell me that I’m prettier without those black polka dots on my face (LOL). At times I planned to have it removed not just because it looks like dirt on my face but also the fact that there are moles that are cancerous (hope mine are not). But before I decide to have it remove I will share to you the meaning of my moles. Maybe these meaning will help me identify which moles I need to remove. (Red dots are actual position of my moles)

Position 1 to 3
As a child, you are somewhat rebellious and a free spirit. You have an innate creativity and work best when you are given a free hand. Generally, your superiors like your avante garde approach to life. If you have a mole here, you are far better off in business and being your own boss rather than working for somebody. What is promising is that you have the luck to be your own boss.

Position 4
You are an impulsive person, often acting with a flamboyance that gives you charisma and a sparkling personality, but you can be difficult when there are too many opinions. You tend to be rather argumentative, but never to the point of holding grudges. This mole tends to give you an explosive temper and should you decide to remove it, you will find yourself becoming calmer and more at peace with the world.

Position 5
A mole above the eyebrow indicates that there is wealth luck in your life, but you will need to earn it and work harder than most people. All the income you make must be carefully kept as there are people who are jealous of you who might attempt to sweet talk you into parting with your wealth. Be wary of those who try to interest you in get-rich-quick schemes. If you have a mole here, it is advisable not to be too trusting of others. Follow your instincts and be cautious. And never allow other people to control your finances.

Position 6
A mole here indicates intelligence, creativity and skill as an artist. Your artistic talent can bring you wealth, fame and success. It also indicates wealth luck, but this can only be fully realized if you follow your heart rather than stick to conventional means of making a living. Success will come if you are brave.

Position 7 (this one is not bulging)
Moles under the eyebrows indicate arguments within the extended family that cause you grief and unhappiness. This will affect your work and livelihood. It is advisable to settle any differences you have with your relatives if you want peace of mind to move ahead.

This is a bit scary.

Position 8
This is not a very good position for a mole. Your financial position will constantly be under strain because of a tendency to overspend. You also have a penchant for gambling. The only thing is you must know when to stop. Meanwhile, someone with a mole here has a tendency to flirt with members of the opposite sex as well as with the same sex. Better be a little discerning where you exert your charms, or you might get into trouble.

Position 9
This mole position suggests sexual and other problems. It is an unfortunate mole and you are well advised to get rid of it. It brings a litany of woes and a parade of problems.

Position 10
A mole here just under the nose indicates excellent descendants luck. You are surrounded by family at all times and will have many children and grandchildren. You have the support of those close to you and will be both materially and emotionally fulfilled.

Position 11
Moles here suggest a tendency to succumb to illness. It is a good idea to have this mole removed especially if it is a large, dark-colored mole. Otherwise use lots of foundation to cover it.

I think I should get rid of these.

Position 12
A mole here foretells a successful but also a very balanced life. You are likely to be not just rich, but famous as well. But although you have every opportunity to live the high life, you will have a satisfying home and family life as well. Women with moles here are particularly lucky and tend to be beautiful and glamourous as well.

Position 13
Your children will be a big worry in your life. Your relationship with them is not good. There is nothing much you can do about this except to learn some tolerance.

Position 14
A mole here suggests a vulnerability to food which can be a big problem in your life. You may have allergies against certain foods or you may simply be eating too much.

Eating too much can be true but I’m not vulnerable to food (LOL).

Position 15
You are a person always on the move and constantly renovating and redesigning your house. You like to be introduced to new things and see new places. You are not happy if you remain in one place for long. You enjoy travel and adventure, and have a very observant eye.

This is very true to me I am a creative person, so I’ll draw my inspiration by redesigning and renovating things. I also love challenges and doing new things. I get easily bored with a routine work and staying in one place. I LOVE adventure!

Position 16
You need to be careful when it comes to eating, and also when it comes to your sex life. These are your two biggest problems. You tend to have weight issues which can make you depressed. You enjoy romance, sometimes with more than one person, but because you are a person with some morality, you will feel guilty about it and this will cause you much stress.

Position 17
You will be someone of great social prominence. You are active on the social scene and an excellent conversationalist. There is a tendency to become bigheaded about your success, which could lose you your good name. This will affect you deeply because you draw your confidence and self worth from what others think of you.

Uh-oh!!! This could be great especially of being an excellent conversationalist, but hope I won’t become bigheaded. I would agree with the last sentence; I’m really conscious of what others will say and this is one of the things that I wanted to change.

Position 18
You are a person always on the move. There is a great deal of overseas travel in your life, but you should take extra care each time you cross the great waters, as your mole prefers you to stay at home.

Position 19
You have money luck and many good friends, so this is a good mole to have. Your weakness is that you tend to succumb to the charms of the opposite sex. In your life, it is this that could get you into hot water, so do cool your ardour!

Position 20
A mole here can be very lucky or very unlucky. If you have a mole here, you are destined either for extreme fame or infamy. You have great flair for creativity and are also highly intelligent, but your talents can be used for both good and bad. You are not a person to be trifled with for you are no pushover and do not forgive and forget easily. This mole is a mark of someone who will go down in history either as a great or as a tyrant.

Ok! I’ll think in positive ways. With this mole, I consider myself as very lucky. Yup! I’m creative and… oooohhh! Yes intelligent but not HIGHLY intelligent (remember I don’t want to become bigheaded by agreeing HIGHLY intelligent, so intelligent is enough ... LOL).

I can easily forgive but I cannot forget easily. So beware!!! (LOL)

Position 21
This is a good mole, as it suggests plenty to eat and drink throughout your life. This mole also brings fame and recognition.

Position 22
Your life is always happy and things go smoothly for you. You could well become a sports superstar if you have the passion for it. Moles at the end of eyebrows also suggest a person of authority and power, so if you are the CEO of a company, you will do very well.

Position 23
You have a high IQ, and you are both brain smart and street smart. You have a highly-developed survival instinct and will lead a meaningful and long life. You will be active until a very old age and will have friends and family around you till the very end.

Position 24
You will achieve fame and fortune in your young age and you are advised to use this period to safeguard your old age, as people with moles here tend to have a harderlife as they get older.

Position 25
You will enjoy good prosperity and recognition luck, but do be careful of excesses. Stay traditional in your attitudes and you will have a long and fruitful life.

A Letter for My Mother

Dear Mama,

When I feel so disappointed and keep on nagging on how much I despised my job, you were there ever ready to absorb all my anxieties and you gave me sermons which sometimes irritated me because I feel it wouldn’t help me at all. Then you say sorry for hurting me… And each time I heard your sorry it tear my heart apart, I felt guilt and realized you were right.

You were so full of wisdom, maybe because of your very colorful life story and all tough experiences you’ve gone through. Making you a very firm woman you are right now.

You have reached out many lives. Sometimes I wonder if you have leaved something for yourself. And you always say God will provide.

You are very God centered. That’s why I feel so safe and secure when we’re together, especially when we’re traveling. Perhaps because you always bring with you your rosary and you pray a lot while travelling.

Ma, you are a complete package sent to us by God. I thank you for all the things you’ve done to us.

Happy Mother's day ma!!! I love you so much…..

Close Up Photography

My mother always says, “There is beauty in everything.” I agree with her, some are unnoticeable, others are striking. Perhaps you can easily judge the looks at first glance. But have you tried to stop and look cautiously at the things you mostly ignored? Just like the unwanted weeds growing in your garden, try to focus on it, then you’ll discover the uniqueness and daintiness of it.

Thanks to the birth of hi-tech photography. The beauties that are mostly overlooked by our naked eyes can be highly appreciated through pictures, captured through the lens of the camera. However, close up shooting of an object needs to be learned, it requires expertise and knowledge. So if you are into photography and have interest on close-up pictures why not learn some technique. Do research about it. I’m sure in just one click of your mouse your screen will be flooded by suggested websites and articles.

I myself was into photography since I became a blog addict. But I’m using my mobile phone with built in camera. Having a digital camera of my own remains a goal ‘till I will raise enough money for it. Anyway, my sister was unable to keep her surprise; she already bought one for me. Yepey!!!! Thanks Jeia! So, while waiting for the package, I am now researching on photograph techniques. It just good I stumbled into an article that is very comprehensive to a newbie photographer like me.

Angel Aboard

A little angel is growing inside Carmela’s womb. Yup! Finally my friend got pregnant after more than two years of waiting and struggling to have their own baby. For sure ninang na pud ko (LOL)!!!!

By the way, Carmela and her loving hubby (Randy) were high school sweethearts and got married last January 2007. They were both my close friends. And I’ve seen how their love story started and how love grows and transformed them into an adoring couple.

Hopefully, everythingl will be ok within the 9 months period. We’ll wait for you little angel….

Labor Day Jobs Fair

I’m desperately looking for a job. So when I heard that the DOLE will hold a three day Job Fair I immediately reviewed my resume and prepared myself for the possible interview questions.

May 1 (day 1 of Job Fair) - When I arrived at Gaisano Mall of Davao around 9:30 am, where the Job Fair was held, it was still close but was already crowded with different applicants holding their resumes and other requirements. They were busy filling up forms which were given by a DOLE representative. So I just go with the flow, get the necessary forms and filled them up.

Applicants outside Gaisano Mall

When Gaisano finally opened around 10:00 am, applicants were racing to the venue (Gaisano Atrium). I never thought they were as desperate as that, “Why run?” I thought.

In one side of the atrium, a huge tarpaulin with the job list (local and abroad) was posted. So like other job fair we have to list all the jobs that we are qualified to apply. They called it job shopping. I tell you it wasn’t that easy, the atrium was jam-packed with desperate applicants all wanted to finish earlier or perhaps because they wanted to be interviewed first by the employer. By the way this shopping list serves as our passport to enter the main venue of Job Fair where employers waiting for the applicants.

Job shopping at the Atrium

So after doing the job shopping, I went straight to the comfort room to fix myself, of course I have to look presentable when facing my interviewer and besides I have to get some air.

Feeling so prepared I go straight to the main venue and handed my shopping list to the guard, but only to find out it needs to be validated by the DOLE representatives. Meaning I have to fall in line again. I was bit disappointed so I decided I will just return on the following day.

The Job Fair venue

May 2 – this time Gaisano Atrium was not as crowded as the other day. I was able to make my shopping list validated without falling in line.

Finally I was able to submit my resumes, but like what I expected the employers will just give you instructions (not really an interview) and say they will just call you after reviewing your resume.

Truly, my Labor Day celebration was laborious day for applying for a better job…. Anyway, I will wait for their call….
