The Fate of Siopao

It's finally my day-off. After a long week of working so hard I can finally sleep longer and do nothing. But somehow doing nothing is boring. So I decided to go out and walk. Besides it's so nice outside and I want to discover more flowering plants that I have never seen before.

After a short walk, I came home hungry. I'm not in the mood to cook. I want instant food!

I found the monggo-stuffed siopao that was sitting on the fridge for months (in my estimation). I got one and put it inside the microwave, I thought 5 minutes is enough. So I grabbed my laptop and browse some sites when I notice something smells burning. I ran to the kitchen and it was filled with smoke. Then I immediately press the stop button of the microwave and ... charanggg.... here's my poor siopao.

I was scared honestly I can't imagine if it caused fire.

I know I'm ignorant...LOL... Well you can't blame me, we never owned a microwave oven before. All I know is that we can't put metal in the microwave oven as stated in the instruction in the label.

Well, thank God the microwave oven is still working but until now we can still smell something burning when we are using it.

By the way, I end up eating nothing that evening... I lost my appetite.

Harvest Time!

Some of the rambutan fruits at our backyard are already ripe. I do not know why not all fruits matured at the same time. Maybe the climate change has something to do on it. Anyway if you’ll look in the brighter side, we will be enjoying the fruit not just in one sitting this means that will be looking forward for more harvests on the following month, by November and December perhaps.

My father harvesting rambutan fruits

My parents decided to harvest the ripe fruits. And share it with my sister-in-law’s parents (how do you call that relationship?) who came along from Surigao (a 12 hours travel to Davao) and share some to our neighbors especially those kids who keep on coming and asked for rambutan which was still green at that time.

Close Encounter with the Bee

Two poor bees... Tired of buzzing perhaps.

When I put on the light of my parents room I was surprised with the bees buzzing around the light. Now I know where the strange noise coming. We do not know where it came from but I’m pretty sure their haven was disturbed.

Of course my parents could not share their room with these stingy creatures or else they’ll wake up by morning with all the swell on their body. So what we did is put off all the light except in the terrace and open the door for them to transfer out. Good thing it works!

Decorating Cake

We had so much fun decorating cakes today. It’s actually my first time to do it. It’s quite expensive. But the money is worth it.
The materials were provided by Goldilocks; that includes chiffon cake, icing, and cake decorations. It was exciting and thrilling especially the part of decorating. And it’s time limited (20 mins).
Goldilocks  entertains us while waiting for the result.

Goldilocks will choose the best decorated, unique cake and clean. They will give freebies especially made from Goldilocks for those who will win.

We did not win the contest, but we are proud of our output.
Finish product..... you judge it!
