I Was Locked Out

Usually I have a long list of what to do in my day-off. I know it should be rest day, but it’s only my day wherein I am condition to do other stuff aside from work and doing blogging stuff like laundry housekeeping, crafting and anything in between.

It was 7:00 pm already, my room is in total mess because I was crafting earlier that day; there is also one balikbayan box that I need to be filled when the dryer alarms, thus, I need to load another batch of laundry in the basement.

But when I got back upstairs door was locked. I was locked out!!! I don’t have a phone to call my sister and it’s freezing outside. Good thing the basement is open and there is a new sofa and TV for the new occupant that will soon to transfer in our basement. Another good thing I was washing my pillows so I have something to cuddle; it was so cold that night and I forgot to turn on the heater.

I was stuck for four hours in the basement, hungry and cold. I fell asleep for awhile; but awoken with the growling of my stomach. And I want to pee, but was scared because the bulb turned off as I entered the basement, ala Conjuring ang dating.

The agony ended when my sister arrived around 11 pm.
And then only to discover that the front door was widely open!!!!

Lesson learned:
I should have checked the other door. It’s cold outside but I will not die going in the other side of the house,
Always carry keys (this was actually my second time locked outside... haha), and

Bring the phone.

Annoying Phone Call from Owtel

I was so tired last night so I went to bed around 8:00 but I was awakened with the ring of my phone from “unknown” number. I totally forgot to set the “do not disturb”on my phone. But because I was expecting a call from somebody I answered it only to find out it’s a call from an agent of Owtel. I was so pissed off because I can’t go back to sleep. That was 10:30 in the evening and I have to get up 4:30 in the morning. Probably I finally fell asleep at 2:00 am.

I understand the work of an agent that it is part of their job but hopefully they’ll check the time zone of the one that they’re calling. Besides there were many Owtel agents that have been calling me from time to time albeit I already said I am not interested with their service. Hope they will stop contacting me.

Meet Sansa

Hi everyone! I would like to introduce to you the newest member in our family – Sansanamed after one of the characters of “Game of Thrones”. She’s a mixed of collie, german shepherd, and labrador, so she’s expected to be a biiiiggg dog.

photo (14)

We got her last 13th of September through a local online garage Facebook fan page for free!

We were hesitant at first to get a dog especially that we have to house her inside our place. It would be a great work for us to maintain a stink-free and clean house. But we finally gave in and decided to own one – we love dog!

Surprisingly, Sansa is a smart puppy. She knows when she likes to poop. So everytime she cries we know we have to let her out. My sister bought a special mat where she pees. (I will make separate post about this mat, because honestly I am amazed with this product).

Her being playful and sweet is our stress reliever. She brings joy to us, especially to me since I am always left alone in our place.

Oh, by the way, her first name was Gunner thinking she’s a boy until my sister brought her to a vet today to schedule for an appointment. Haha….

Reality Hurts... But it’s Time to Act

Boyfie keeps picking on me on how I look now. He said I gained too much weight and my hair is getting longer which makes me look old. I am used to him because we usually tease each other on our looks. But that morning when he said those nasty words... I almost cried... reality hurts.

I don’t know why my face gets chubbier. I’ve never been conscious with my weight till he said that I gained. Now I try to control my rice intake as per his advice. Coz I ate rice more than as he does.

I also do face yoga massage, to help tone down and reshape my face to a younger me. Because boyfie said I look so stress because of my puffy eyebag. With the nature of my work, you’d really get eyebag. Hopefully this face yoga massage will help me.

As for my messy hair, I tried to keep it long because I want to style it differently. But boyfie said I don’t look good with it especially that I don’t know how to fix my hair. Oh! That hurts me much if he only knew. But I accept it as constructive criticism, albeit I didn’t talk to him for one day. Haha... I got my hair done, though I hate to spend $50, for boyfie’s sake. And after more than 2 decades of having a one length hair I finally tried side bangs. Which is not pretty bad, actually my co-workers said I look good at it. But the most satisfied is my boyfriend.

Stop Distracted Driving

This post brought to you by Insurance Hunter. All opinions are 100% mine.

Distracted Driving is one of the causes of accidents in the road. In fact according to survey 8 out of 10 accidents are caused by distracted driving; a very significant number that everybody should be aware of and do something to Stop Distracted Drivers.

Below is an info-graphics from Insurance Hunter blog about distracted driving. It concisely shows the types of distraction and some statistics.

Stop Distracted Driving - An infographic by the team at Stop Distracted Driving

As mentioned in Insurance Hunter blog post about distracted Driving, “Don`t become a distracted driving statistic”. Here are some tips on how we can prevent it:

  • Driver should stay focus on the road at all times because accidents can happen in a split of second. It is discouraged the use of gadgets such as mobile phone and GPS. There are hands-free gadgets but then it can also cause distraction.
  • I know there are instances that you need to operate gadgets. It happens to us many times when GPS was not working and it had to be refreshed. In cases like that other person (passenger) will operate the gadget. Or we come into full stop in a safe zone if the driver wants to operate it.
  • Other things that should not be done while driving other than using of gadgets are: eating, drinking, reading, to name a few. It is clear that multitasking is not allowed when driving. I believe when you drive you should focus 100% using your sense of sight and hearing.
  • If you are driving with your kids, see to it that you have all their needs and they are in condition to travel. Kids are said to be one of the causes of distractions. So to stop them from distracting you occupy them with something that they`d love to do while on travel such as movies, games, music, etc.
  • When you drive see to it that you are in condition; not sleepy, not over thinking of anything, not in angst, or any emotion that could distract you. Presence of mind is very important in driving.

Those are easy tips but are often overlooked by drivers. However there is a law in some provinces in Canada that was implemented for distracted driving. This somehow disciplened drivers to focus on the road and on the wheel.

2nd Year in Canada

Two years ago when I arrived to this strange country, all I feel is excitement and happiness. For me it’s a new place, a new beginning.

Even how tired I am from a long travel, I was exuberated when my sister toured me into Rocky Mountains of Alberta for two days. I just arrived and I was exploring Canada by then. It was summer but I was wearing thick jacket at that time. I know I look ridiculous with my outfit. But I don`t care at all.

When leaves turned to yellow and withered, I was just so amazed with the beauty of the nature. It just getting colder and colder a sign that winter was coming.

I was looking forward for the first snow fall. I just can`t wait! When it snowed I immediately went outside and took photos. For me it is magical as the snowflakes fall.

For two years in a foreign country, I experienced lots of ups and downs. And as I stay longer I am sadden making me feels doubt if coming here is worth everything.

I know I just miss my family.

I remember when I left Davao two years ago; I saw my family’s teary eyes and their sad smiles. But I chose to ignore it. I don’t want to leave them with a heavy heart. Because the last time I left when I went to Manila for work, I cried so hard which made my father worried so much for me. So to keep them feel ease I showed to them a happy and excited me... but deep inside I was hurting so badly. It was a mix feeling of excitement and sadness actually.

Being away from my comfort zone, I grow and I learned more. It even brought me closer to my passion in arts and crafting. But one best thing, I learned to deal with different people. I met acquaintances whom I can share my views and feelings. They are my family here in Canada (aside from my sister) who shows there simple way of care and kindness. I thank them for being with me, for cheering me up when I feel so lonely, and for teaching me to stay strong despites adversities.

2nd year in Canada

A bouquet of flowers from a friend, Dorothy. She simply brighten my 2nd year anniversary of staying here in Canada

Today, I celebrate my 2nd year anniversary for I survived. I know there will be more exciting challenges coming and I widely open my arms to accept it and face it.

Hello August!

August is the birth month of my 4 cousins, 2 siblings, 3 nieces and my mom. So there’s like party in every week. And I’m missing these events in two years in a row.

I wanna go home this month especially on my mom’s birthday. Unfortunately I can’t. I feel so sorry for her. I know she wants us to be there in her birthday.

I wish I could easily go home even just for 2 weeks. It would be very expensive; but I’ll do some sacrifices if that means happiness for my mom. The only thing that hinders me are the paper works that needs to be done to secure for that re-entry visa.

Knowing my mom, I know she fully understands us if we can’t be there in her birthday.
I miss her… I miss them so badly.

Insomnia Attacked

I see to it that at least I sleep 7 hours a day. And since I work as early as 5:30 am I have to go to bed normally between 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Last Saturday, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that it was already dawn since outside was still bright (it`s long daylight, it`s summer here). You know the feeling that you think you`re already late and you just felt all the adrenalin rush… Only to find out that it was still 11:00 pm.

I tried to go back to sleep, but no matter how I tossed and turned my eyes won`t shut down. I had insomnia attacked! I checked my phone and hours seem went fast.

I read a book just to make my eyes get tired but it was not helping so does with browsing my phone. The last time I check my watch it was already 3:00 in the morning. And I didn`t notice that I finally fell asleep until I heard my alarm ringing at 4:30 am. So basically I slept 1 hour and 30 minutes only.

Until now I still feel tired, even I had 8 hours sleep last night. I think I need a day-off just to recover from tiredness.

I experience insomnia once in a while. It`s very disturbing; you can`t function well. I feel so sorry for my bf who always have a hard time sleeping at night. I wish I could help him. If you know some remedy for insomnia please leave some comments below. Thanks!

Sad and Tired?

Okay I’ve had enough! People just notice that I look so sad, tired and grouchy. I thought it was just me, that’s how I look. But then somebody said that I used to be warm.

I just can’t understand. I’ve had enough sleep 7 – 8 hours, although sometimes there are nights that I woke up in the middle of the night. But then why do I look so tired? I already consulted a doctor about it. But there are no findings. He didn’t even prescribe vitamins to boost my energy.

Sad? Not really. How can I be sad? I have a good relationship with my [okay] looong distance boyfriend. I have a wonderful family who give their support to me 101%. Speaking of my family, I truly miss them. Yes probably it’s the reason why I look so sad.

Perhaps, my colleague is right. I am over thinking of something. There are just too many things running in my mind right now, especially my future and my parents. I know I worried so much; I should stop thinking of things that is not even happening because I am missing days of my life where I should have use those times and days to enjoy life to the fullest.

I need to put smile in my face and show the colors inside me so as to brighten others. So quit being lonely!

Virtual Remodeler Tool

This post brought to you by Royal Building Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

Designing your home can be a daunting task especially if you have no skills in it. Although hiring professionals, such as architect or home designer, can help you get your vision of your dream house but it will cost you more.

With all the tools provided in the internet, one can now easily design his own house like the Virtual Remodeler Tool provided by Royal Building Products. This tool will help you design the exterior of your house including the roof, vinyl siding, window, patio door to name a few. It is a very easy to use tool that even kids who know how to use computer can do it.

They provided photos of model houses for you to design. You can choose the color, texture and pattern of the area that you want to change in the exterior of the house as I mentioned earlier. The good thing is that you can also upload the photo of your own house and design it using this tool, which in my opinion is better because you can see almost the actual result as you choose the designs for your own house.

I find this tool a great way of involving your family in designing. You can save projects then print and show to your family the different design you’ve made for them to compare and choose the best that fits your family preferences.

When it comes to buying the actual products that you use in designing in this tool, you don`t need to look for another supplier because Royal Building Products is a tested company that distributes leading materials for home, building and municipal construction markets. They`ve been in this kind of business for over 40 years making them a trusted company by the professionals.

Spices of My Life is Now PR 2!

“Seriously???? PR 2??”

Of course it made me happy after several years of trying to get my PR 3 back; finally I got at least PR 2. It just surprise me because this blog is long neglected. I don’t even promote much this blog because I don’t earn much from here. Besides this is not a self-hosted blog, one of the DAs preferences.

But since it’s now PR 2 much as well take care of it. I don’t want to lose it again. Anyway Social Spark has been generous to me and they are willing to advertise here.

So I guess I need to double my effort or should I say triple to update and promote three blogs.

Spring Cleaning Time!

This post brought to you by Insurance Hunter. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m surprised when I open the curtain this morning; our backyard is filled with snow again. Suppose to be it spring time already. Well, they said it’s normal.  I wonder if there is still snow in Rabbit Hill so that we can ski again. It is the highlight of our winter activities. I will just make a separate post about it.

For spring time I guess our first activity is to do spring cleaning. Albeit we’ve been cleaning the house everyday, but there are parts that was not done especially the outdoor. So this would be a lot of works to do. Without a guide we could miss cleaning some part. Thus we need to itemize and organize the spring cleaning activity.

I found a helpful article about Tips for getting your spring cleaning chores organized from Insurance Hunter, an insurance brokerage that helps you find auto insurance quotes. Here are some:

  1.  List all the chores that need to be completed.
  2. Categorize whether it’s indoor or outdoor. And organize according to priority.
  3. Make a time table; indicate the duration of each chore. Then mark the chore that has been done. Also it’s important to involve family members in this activity. Give them assignment according to their ability.
  4. Then reward everbody for their efforts.

In addition, make sure you have the cleaning tools and cleaning solutions before you start. Personally I opt for homemade cleaners than those chemicals we buy in the supermarket. Actually you can find DIY cleaning solutions in the internet. It’s cheaper, environment friendly and safer.

Hope this will help you.

My Shooting Experience

Okay, not the “camera action!” kind of shooting but shooting with a gun. Yup firing!

I never imagined myself holding a gun, because I am paranoid that I will hurt somebody. But last March 26 we decided to try it. At first I backed-out since I was so ill (I just went with the group because it’s BIL’s birthday) and it’s expensive like around $85 CAD for 45 bullets so did my sister and our friend. But then we decided to try it anyway since we are already in the shooting site and for the sake of experience.

I was telling my BIL that I will only try one shot then he’ll do the rest. At first it was scary like my palms are sweating. As soon as I used to the loud bang of it and holding the gun I just enjoyed it and the sickness I felt that moment was released. After I pulled the 45th bullet only did I realize my agreement with my BIL. LOL

Our friend and BIL on their real life PS3

My sissy all smile, but she’s honestly scared like me

Everybody had so much fun and pride as we bring our target – a piece of paper. My sister had the consistent shot but missed a lot of bullet. Mine is quiet scattered but I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss any bullets.

Signed by a sharp shooter, no other than – ME! LOL

How to Deal Negative People or Situation (My Way)

I tried to live a positive a life following advices from the books I read. I know it is difficult especially if you are surrounded with people who bring negative vibes. Just like at work the moment I came in all I can hear are sighs and negative comments from colleagues, it is so draining honestly.

But I found my own ways in getting rid of it...

  1.  I go in an area where I can be alone. This helps me revives my energy.
  2. Applying CEEport. I learned it from the book “Zero Limit” by Joe Vital. CEEport means Clean, erase, erase while returning to zero. Cleaning my thoughts and erasing all bad memories. I do this by keep on repeating the four phrases: “I love you”, “I’m sorry”, “Thank you”, and “Please forgive me”. I still need to learn this method.
  3. And I think one of this best method and effective is, IGNORE or act like I`m listening to their complaints but honestly my thoughts are wandering for other more creative and helpful thoughts. Hahaha... trying to be deaf.

How about you, how do you deal negative people?

A Gift from a DA

One of the advantages of having [paid] blogs is getting freebies from advertisers. Although I prefer money in exchange for paid post or text link but freebies is also great.

Blue and white Porcelain pen and bookmark

Last December I got this set of blue and white porcelain pen and bookmark from an advertiser in exchange for text link in the side bar. I check the price and its value is around $27.00. Actually they offer me 4 different freebies to choose but I love the pen and bookmark set the most... just like love at first site! I love it the fact that I love to read and usually write down phrases from books that I read.

The Alexa ranks of my blogs are improving since I joined the Alexa hop from groups of bloggers. And advertisers are now starting to contact me. I hope more opps for this year. I need the moolah badly but freebies are okay as well.

FB Account is Temporarily Locked

My Facebook account is always open in my phone. Surprisingly, on the morning of December 28 I can no longer access my account in my phone, as well as in other phone or computer. It says that my computer may be infected with a virus which I doubt if it’s true since I can access a different account on the same computer or phone.

I tried to follow the instructions in the prompt box by clicking continue. But I’m suspicious with the instructions because it prompted me to install a scanner which I believe it is a malware so I didn’t do anything. Instead I try to look for forums related to it unfortunately I can’t find the solution. The problem with FB is that there is no “Contact Us” button and I can’t also find the answer in the FB forum or FAQ site about the problem I encountered.

Although I’m not an FB addict, it still bothers me not accessing the account. I suspect somebody reported me as abuse or blocked, BUT I don’t really know the real reason why I can’t access my account. Thus I gave up.

I was able to access my account again on the third day. I didn’t do anything... So when you experience same thing in your FB account I suggest don’t install anything as what you have been told on the prompt box. Just wait and ...have a break on accessing your account.  After all life continues without FB.
